This year, we were honored to present four nominations from our organization to the Avera Quality Congress Program on Wednesday, August 26. These nominations are representative of the quality improvement projects and staff who are living out our mission each day.
Quality Improvement Award
Congratulations to our team for winning the Avera Quality Improvement Award for Building an Evidence-Based Environment! The goal was to create a new healing environment for patients, families, and employees when building a new $48.5 million hospital and medical clinic. The inspiration of the facility was build around Psalm 23, combining a focus of verdant pastures, still water and restoration of the soul with local community heritage to create a uniquely tranquil environment. The most rewarding aspect of building this state-of-the-art facility is hearing the patient’s stories and how it has improved the care received.  Project team members include: Kayleen Lee, David Bronner, Rebecca Burkholder, Joe Heitritter, Heidi Kludt, Elaine Leusink, Mary McClung, Kim Nibbelink, Harold Rus, Jackson Schuiteman, Stacia Schulze, Matt Toering, Theresa Tucker, Krystal Vander Pol, Derrick Van Roekel, Marilyn Ver Meer, and Barb Vermeer.
Congratulations to Stephanie Zandstra, PTA for winning the Spirit of Compassion Award!
Stephanie routinely demonstrated the behavior of compassion for our patients. She drove 65 miles to a dog shelter for a patient and then cared for that dog until the patient returned home 30 days later. She provided weekly pictures of the dog for the patient as well.
