Honor your loved one this holiday season.
During the Christmas season, our thoughts turn to those we love – our family and friends who celebrate the joy of the season with us; and those who are no longer here but whose memory burns brightly in our hearts.
We invite you and your family to honor your loved one this season by participating in the Loving Tree Project. Through your generous donation, you will receive a personalized ornament in memory of those you cherish. The ornament helps to embrace the loss and provides a keepsake for years to come. These ornaments will decorate the Loving Tree in the Town Center at Sioux Center Health throughout the holiday season.
Please note: Anyone can order an ornament in memory of your loved one. It doesn’t need to be a hospice patient.
Lane Kooi Hospice Story
Lane Kooi first experienced the benefits of hospice care while living in Florida in 2008. His wife, Margaret, was a hospice patient there and it was such a blessing to them. After she died, Lane volunteered at the hospice organization in Florida and it was while taking classes that he met his future wife, Joan.
Joan and Lane moved to Sioux Center permanently in 2014. Three years later Joan was diagnosed with cancer. She started receiving hospice care in March of 2020. It was such a blessing to Lane and Joan’s families to know that she could stay in their home with Lane’s support and the physical, spiritual, and emotional care from the hospice team during her last days on this earth. Joan went to her heavenly home on July 15 with Lane by her side.
“I would like to thank everyone from the Sioux Center Health Hospice team for the love and support given to Joan and I day or night! May God continue to bless your mission in the days and years ahead.” – Lane Kooi, Sioux Center

Tree Lighting Ceremony
Tuesday, December 1 at 5:30 pm | Sioux Center Health Town Center
Join us for a special memorial service as we light the tree to remember and celebrate the lives of those we will never forget. Refreshments will be provided. As a healthcare organization, we value the health and well-being of the communities we serve and continue to monitor the spread of the COVID-19 virus. We will review our visitation policy and the prevalence of the virus in our region in the final weeks of November and determine if we will hold this event. Please refer to our website and Facebook page for updates. We will also notify KSOU radio if the event will be cancelled.
Your ornament will be available for pick up after January 8 in the Gift Shop located in the Town Center at Sioux Center Health.
All donations received will benefit the Sioux Center Health Hospice and Home Care program.
