Get to know Sioux Center Health’s Athletic Trainers
Who are Athletic Trainers and what do they do?
Athletic Trainers are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. Athletic Trainers work under the direction of a physician as prescribed by state licensure statutes.
Sioux Center Health employs three full-time Athletic Trainers to provide athletic training services to the athletes at Dordt College.
Chris Fagerness, LAT
Chris oversees the Athletic Training Program at Dordt. A graduate of South Dakota State University in 2001, he provides services to Football, Indoor and Outdoor Track, Men’s Volleyball, Hockey, Lacrosse, and Cheer/Dance. “My favorite aspect of the job is helping student athletes problem solve their injuries and helping them achieve their goals. I also enjoy staying up-to-date on the latest research regarding all aspects of the medical field.”
Lindsay Hoogendoorn, LAT
Lindsay, a graduate of Minnesota State Mankato in 2012, provides services to Women’s Volleyball, Cross Country, Varsity Basketball, Softball, Hockey, and Cheer/Dance. “I enjoy getting to know the athletes on more of a personal level while helping them return to play following an injury.”
Austin Benda, LAT
Austin, a graduate of Northwestern College in 2016, provides services to Soccer, Junior Varsity Basketball, Baseball, Hockey, Cheer/Dance, and Lacrosse. “What I like most about what I do is the interaction with all the athletes and getting to know them. I also like working with athletes to make them healthy again so they are able to reach their full potential and perform at their highest level.”
Sioux Center Health appreciates our Athletic Trainers for their excellent service to our Dordt College athletes and commitment to serve our mission of Sioux Center Health!
