A total of 85 residents from Crown Pointe (44), Franken Manor (17) , and Royale Meadows (24) received the COVID-19 vaccine on Saturday, January 16. Staff from Walgreens pharmacies worked with Sioux Center’s Long-Term Care facilities to administer the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to residents and staff. The vaccinations were being handled through Iowa’s Pharmacy Partnership for Long-Term Care Program. The second dose will be administered in about 28 days.
Here are a few thoughts from some of the residents about why they got vaccinated…
-“My family encouraged me to.”
-“To stop the virus”
-“To protect myself and everyone around me and so I can finally leave the building”
-“For protection and my daughters who are nurses got it as well”
-“Because it is preventative for everyone and I want to be able to leave and see family again”
-“To keep us safe and family was happy for me to get it so I can see them again”
