Sioux Center Health Nurse Brooke Schroeder Earns National Medical-Surgical Certification
SIOUX CENTER, Iowa — December 15, 2025 — Sioux Center Health is proud to announce that Brooke Schroeder, BSN, RN, CMSRN, has officially earned her Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN) credential from the Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Board (MSNCB) through the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses (AMSN). Brooke completed the rigorous certification exam on November 20, 2025, marking a significant professional achievement and reinforcing her commitment to excellence in patient care.
Brooke began her nursing career after graduating with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from South Dakota State University in 2016. She gained early experience in Sioux Falls, serving patients in oncology, kidney transplant, and liver transplant specialties before joining Sioux Center Health in 2018.
Since that time, Brooke has become a highly versatile and respected member of the medical-surgical team, working across a broad range of specialties including med surg, emergency, obstetrics, and acute care. Within her first two years, she earned the role of resource nurse, supporting staff across the unit. She later expanded her leadership and education skills while serving as an educator at Crown Pointe Estates.
In 2023, Brooke was selected for the role of Coordinator at Sioux Center Health — a leadership position responsible for ensuring nursing staff are well-prepared for any clinical situation. In this role, she oversees training, education, and policy coordination for med surg nurses, ensuring procedures remain current and that the team maintains strong competency in the continually evolving field of medical-surgical nursing.
A dedicated lifelong learner, Brooke also graduated in 2024 from the prestigious Avera Rising Nurse Leader program, further strengthening her leadership impact across the organization.
Earning the CMSRN credential required intense preparation, including 20 hours of specialized training and completion of a three-hour, 150-question exam. Brooke reflected on the achievement, sharing: “It was a good refresher. With all we do in med surg, it's important that we're staying competent on the skills and knowledge we need to know to take care of our patients to the best of our ability.”
Anna Fedders, BSN, RN, Director of Patient Care Services said, “I am incredibly proud of Brooke for pursuing this certification as it demonstrates her commitment to our team and her own professional growth. This achievement doesn't just sharpen her own skills, but as a leader on our Med-Surg Unit, it strengthens the entire team and is an inspiration to others around her which enhances the quality of the care we provide to our patients.”
Stacia Schulze, MSN, RN, Chief Nursing Officer, said, “We are proud of Brooke’s achievement and the example she sets for our nursing team. Sioux Center Health’s five-star CMS rating for nurse communication reflects the dedication of nurses like Brooke, who consistently prioritize clear, compassionate communication and patient-centered care every day.”
Sioux Center Health congratulates Brooke on this remarkable accomplishment and thanks her for her dedication, leadership, and continual pursuit of excellence for the patients and families we serve.
