Sioux Center Health Celebrates Makenna Moser, RN, OB Coordinator, as Graduate of Avera Rising Nurse Leader Program

Sioux Center, IA, August 20, 2025— Sioux Center Health is proud to recognize and celebrate Makenna Moser, RN, OB (Labor & Delivery) Coordinator, for her recent graduation from the Avera Rising Nurse Leader Development Program: a prestigious leadership initiative designed to equip emerging nurse leaders with the skills and vision needed to shape the future of healthcare.
Established in 2016, the Avera Rising Nurse Leader Development Program is a comprehensive six-month initiative that prepares high-performing nurses for future leadership roles within the Avera system. The program emphasizes Avera’s core leadership competencies: Driving Vision and Purpose, Leadership Courage, Decision Quality, and Nimble Learning. To participate, nurses must be nominated by a leader, complete a competitive application process, and be selected from a talented pool of candidates. Approximately 30 nurses are chosen for each cohort.
Throughout the program, Makenna engaged in hospital visits, leadership development sessions, and delivered a meaningful presentation tied to the nursing code of ethics. Her dedication to growth and service reflects the compassionate, ethical, and patient-centered care she brings to her role every day.
As OB Coordinator, Makenna provides more than just clinical excellence. She mentors new nurses, fosters a supportive workplace culture, and ensures that families welcoming new life feel cared for and confident in their parenthood journey.
“Makenna truly exemplifies the Sioux Center Health mission and vision. Watching her grow over the years has been such a blessing,” said Stacia Schulze, Chief Nursing Officer and Senior Leader at Sioux Center Health. “I hired her many years ago as a new CNA, and since then, she has continued to develop her skills and pursue her passion for obstetrics while advancing through nursing school. Her journey has been marked by incredible, servant-hearted leadership and a commitment to mentoring our team. I am deeply thankful for and proud of her.”
Anna Fedders, MSN, RN, Director of Patient Care, added:
“It is exciting for me to see Makenna's growth as a leader while she attended the Avera Rising Nurse Leader Program. She has grown in her confidence as a leader and in her ability to face challenging situations professionally. I am thankful that Sioux Center Health sees the value of programs like this to support, develop, and encourage leaders like Makenna along their leadership journey."
Sioux Center Health is truly blessed to have Makenna’s heart, skill, and leadership on our team. Our organization celebrates her amazing contributions and her bright future in nursing leadership.
