Sioux Center Health Specialty Clinic Receives Quality Award

Sioux Center, Iowa, September 26, 2025 — Sioux Center Health is proud to announce that its Specialty Clinic has been honored with an esteemed Avera Quality Award in recognition of an outstanding quality improvement initiative aimed at reducing missed pediatric cardiology appointments among Spanish-speaking patients.
The project, led by Specialty Clinic Manager Kayti Beukelman, began in 2022 when clinic data revealed that nearly 75% of Spanish-speaking families were missing their children’s pediatric cardiology appointments — a statistic with serious implications for patient outcomes.
Determined to address the gap in care, Kayti partnered with bilingual staff members Diana Gutierrez and Daisy Ramirez to implement a simple but impactful change: making reminder phone calls in Spanish. The result was dramatic — the no-show rate dropped from 75% to just 10%, ensuring more children received timely, critical cardiac care.
The initiative not only improved health outcomes but also strengthened trust and engagement with Spanish-speaking families in the community. It exemplifies Sioux Center Health’s mission to provide compassionate, community-centered care to all patients.
Sioux Center Health extends heartfelt congratulations to Kayti Beukelman, Diana Gutierrez, Daisy Ramirez, and the entire Specialty Clinic team for their innovation, dedication, and unwavering commitment to quality care.
