Sioux Center Health Uses Viz.ai to Bring Applied Artificial Intelligence to Stroke Care

Sioux Center, IA - May 2026 - Sioux Center Health is using Viz.ai, the leader in AI-powered disease detection and intelligent care coordination, to implement a unique artificial intelligence solution for the coordination of stroke care. Sioux Center Health has already deployed Viz.ai’.s AI-powered care coordination platform to help facilitate early access to the most advanced care for our patients.

The Viz Platform is now utilized in over 1,300 hospitals across the U.S. and EMEA and reaches two patients per minute. Featuring image-based artificial intelligence, the Viz Platform gives care teams the ability to review suspected Large Vessel Occlusion (LVO) strokes within minutes of a computerized tomography (CT) scan being completed. Clinically-relevant information, including lab values, oxygen saturation levels, and scoring, is included on the platform.

Viz.ai’s Platform will allow Sioux Center Health to further enhance the power of its stroke care team through faster detection and notification of suspected LVO strokes and beyond. It will allow care teams to securely communicate through the HIPAA-compliant chat to synchronize care and determine the optimal patient treatment decision.

“Sioux Center Health has a new weapon in the battle to save patients who are having a stroke,” said Dr. David Semerad, Sioux Center Health Radiologist. “Not only does Viz.ai find the blocked artery, it also immediately alerts Avera’s stroke team and Careflight helicopter team in Sioux Falls. Time to treatment is cut down by at least 60 minutes. When the clock is ticking, every minute counts.”

Care teams using the Viz Platform can potentially save critical minutes, or even hours, in the triage, diagnosis and treatment of strokes and other disease states. Viz.ai's image analysis facilitates fast and accurate triage of suspected LVOs in stroke patients, and improved collaboration between clinicians at comprehensive and referral hospitals.

“We developed the Viz.ai Platform to help health systems and hospitals coordinate care in real time across the whole clinical team,” said Jayme Strauss, chief clinical officer at Viz.ai. “We are excited to partner with Sioux Center Health to enable a new era of synchronized care, advancing the ability for patients to get to the right doctor at exactly the right time.”
