Dr. Jason Koelewyn Earns a One-of-a-Kind “Stork Badge”
Sioux Center, Iowa, October 27, 2025 — Sioux Center Health is celebrating one of its own for going above and beyond — both in his medical calling and his community service.
During a regular Cadet meeting at First Christian Reformed Church, Cadet Counselor and Sioux Center Health physician Dr. Jason Koelewyn was unexpectedly called away to deliver a baby. Still wearing his Cadet uniform shirt under his gown, Dr. Koelewyn later joked with the new parents that delivering a baby in his Cadet shirt had been on his bucket list. The proud father replied, “Is there a merit badge for that?”
At the family’s follow-up visit, they surprised Dr. Koelewyn with a handmade “stork badge” to commemorate the special delivery. True to his commitment, Dr. Koelewyn even made it back to the Cadet meeting in time for closing exercises!
We’re grateful for Dr. Koelewyn’s years of service and for the wonderful example he sets, both in caring for patients and in living out the Cadet motto:
“Living for Jesus!”
Special thanks to Counselor Jon for sharing the amazing story and photo.
