Our state-of-the-art Surgery Center features two fully equipped operating rooms, two endoscopy suites, a dedicated special procedures area, a comfortable recovery space, and 10 patient rooms designed for your comfort and privacy. Supporting our surgeons is a team of highly trained surgical technicians who meticulously prepare, clean, and sterilize all operating room supplies to ensure the highest safety standards.

We are proud to be the first rural Avera facility to bring this advanced technology to our region — making Sioux Center a destination for exceptional surgical care in Northwest Iowa. With the da Vinci 5 system, patients can now experience the benefits of leading-edge robotic surgery close to home, without needing to travel to a larger medical center.
Our highly skilled surgeons, Dr. Mouw and Dr. Konz, are trained in using this next-generation robotic platform to perform procedures with unmatched precision and gentleness. The da Vinci 5 system enhances their expertise with advanced 3D visualization, improved dexterity, and refined control — allowing for smaller incisions, less pain, and faster recovery times.
When you're scheduled for surgery at Sioux Center Health, your surgeon’s office will provide detailed instructions to help you prepare for your specific procedure. If a pre-surgical physical is needed, their staff will help you schedule it to ensure you're healthy and ready for surgery. Our preadmissions team will contact you one to two days before your procedure to confirm your arrival time, review your medical history, and answer any questions you may have. If you're having a same-day procedure and won’t be staying overnight, please arrange for a licensed driver age 18 or older to take you home, and ensure an adult is available to stay with you for the first 24 hours following your surgery.
Unless otherwise directed, please check in at the main entrance of Sioux Center Health on the day of your procedure. Once you're ready, a member of our team will escort you to your room, where your nurse will ensure you're comfortable and fully prepared for surgery. Recovery time will vary based on the type of anesthesia or sedation used. Depending on your procedure and overall health, you may return home the same day or require an overnight stay for inpatient care. We understand how important it is to have the support of loved ones during your surgical experience. We strive to keep your family and friends comfortable, informed, and involved—without disrupting your care. A guest is welcome to stay with you in your room while you're being prepared for surgery. Once you're taken to the operating area, they can remain in your room or visit the nearby Garden Café or Gift Shop. With your permission, your physician will speak with your loved one after the procedure to share updates and answer questions. For added comfort, we offer complimentary coffee, tea, and refreshments. The Garden Café, just a short walk away on the ground floor, serves a variety of meals and snacks, while the Gift Shop in the Town Center offers beverages, homemade treats, and unique items.
